UCB’s commitment to environmental sustainability

Portrait of Sandrine Dufour, Chief Financial Officer

We have made strong commitments to limit our impact on the planet as we work to develop and deliver medicines for people with severe diseases. We take this responsibility seriously, because we understand the intrinsic link between the health of the planet that we call home and the health of the humans who live on it.

UCB is committed to making meaningful progress on our environmental sustainability journey by reducing our operational footprint and driving systemic change across the value chain.

To live up to our goals, UCB has set absolute targets across three key environmental impact areas — carbon emissions, water and waste:

Emissions

Reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2045, compared to a 2019 baseline, and neutralize remaining CO2e emissions (target validated as science based by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)). Read more about our net-zero commitments.

Waste

Reduce waste production by 18% by 2030. Find out more about how UCB is aiming to reduce waste generation.

For the activities UCB does not directly control, we work closely with our suppliers to decrease our environmental impact across the supply chain.

UCB is committed to a fair transition to net zero, with targets validated by the Science-based targets initiative. Together, we can make a difference and build a healthier planet for healthier people.
