For patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), the journey to accurate diagnosis, effective treatment and management, optimal wound care and improved quality of life is often met with lengthy delays. Diagnoses can be fraught with obstacles, and many are met with numerous clinical challenges along the way. At UCB, we imagine an HS-free world, with a view to revolutionise science, redefine care and restore humanity. We’re not merely participating in the HS landscape, we’re actively making efforts to improve it, and casting a spotlight on HS diagnosis and management, while keeping the patient experience at the core of everything we do.

Our commitment to HS extends far beyond the development of treatments. We embrace a holistic approach to understanding HS, empowering dermatologists and ultimately, improving the lives of patients. Our dedication is probably best exemplified by our recent standalone educational event for emerging dermatologists, which took place on November 26 and 27, entitled The Founders of the Future: Discovering the true nature of Hidradenitis Suppurativa. This was not just a meeting, it was a two-day immersive mission, spearheaded by the expertise of the Founders:

Alongside the Founders, delegates heard from additional multidisciplinary voices who will challenge their thinking, inspire new perspectives and expand their approach to HS care:

With the guidance of the Founders and multidisciplinary voices, through engaging workshops, thought-provoking case studies, interactive masterclasses and collaborative challenges enhanced by cutting-edge technology, delegates unearthed:

  • The latest advances in the understanding of HS pathogenesis
  • Best practice guidelines in medical and surgical management
  • The importance of forming multidisciplinary alliances with other HCPs to enhance patient outcomes
  • The impact of HS and how to better connect with and motivate patients.

This event was more than just an opportunity for knowledge gain – it was a comprehensive, engaging experience for experts in the space, and fostered not only scientific understanding, but also practical, hands-on experience with key advanced imaging techniques, treatment methods and procedures – while crucially keeping the patient voice front and centre throughout. Attendees experienced presentations and working sessions to get the most out of the topics in the spotlight, with international HS experts available every step of the way.

This event was a true testament to UCB’s unwavering commitment to HS – enabling us to build a better future for patients living with HS through educating healthcare professionals across Europe.
