Parkinson’s disease has many dimensions

Listen to people with Parkinson’s disease talk about their interaction with healthcare professionals and it will soon become clear that non-motor symptoms of the disease are not given enough attention.
That’s why I was pleased to write an article on the subject and to have it published in the summer edition of EPDA Plus – the quarterly newsletter of the European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA). It’s a two-page overview based on a non-motor symptoms workshop – Managing Parkinson’s Disease: a Holistic Approach – and draws on the collective wisdom of patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
The workshop was supported by UCB in collaboration with the EPDA and gave a great insight into some of the underlying symptoms that can too often slip under the radar, such as sleep disturbances, pain and mood.
