An investigation into the early role of macrophages in metabolic syndrome

Macrophage infiltration into adipose tissue in response to a high fat diet is associated with the development of metabolic syndrome. This project aims to focus on the earliest phase of macrophage infiltration and ask whether it may have some physiological significance that only becomes pathological through prolonged exposure to high fat diet.

The position requires a PhD level degree in the field of macrophage cell biology or metabolic syndrome, with innovative scientific accomplishment demonstrated by a solid record of publications.

The applicant is required to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, competence in the English language and a strong motivation to contribute to improving the lives of patients through the creation of breakthrough medicines.

This postion is based in Slough, UK. Positions are available for a period of 36 months with a starting date during 2012.
